Prayer is so powerful.
As wives, we have a unique opportunity to lift our husbands up in prayer. We see their most intimate struggles, and we know what they need help with.
In the busy seasons of everyday life, I didn’t want to risk forgetting to pray for something important in my husband’s life. That’s why I came up with this *quick* acronym to pray for my husband.
Join me in a 30 day prayer challenge where we pray specifically in these areas for our husbands, and watch how God blesses your union.
S. Spiritual Health
Our husbands are the spiritual heads of our homes and families.
This is no small responsibility. It’s huge actually, and will have lasting consequences (whether good or bad).
Let’s pray that God will guide our husbands so they can lead well.
Pray that our husband will be seeking God continually, so he will know God’s heart.
Pray that he will be growing spiritually, so he can find more joy, peace, love, patience, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22)
P. Physical Protection
Growing old with someone means you want them to grow old gracefully.
If your husband is anything like mine, he is willing to put his health needs last for the sake of the family.
This can be admirable, for sure, but we should be praying for our husband’s bodies to be protected from undue harm from the stresses of everyday life.
Let’s pray for them to care well for their bodies by making healthy choices daily.
Let’s pray for their bodies to be strong and able to perform their tasks of life.
Pray our husbands will be covered by God’s hand of protection.
Pray that God will carefully watch over his physical well-being and keep him safe from all the terrible diseases that lurk about waiting to destroy precious ones.

O. Occupational Success
A man’s occupation is a large part of where he finds his identity. Men are hard-wired to provide for their families, and they take their occupations very serious.
This is important to our husbands and crucial to our family’s stability.
Let’s pray for our husband to do his job well, and do it for the glory of God.
Let’s pray that he would be effective in his career and find success.
Pray that God would use him to shine the light of Christ in the workplace to draw others to Him.
Pray that our husbands will have success with everything they set their hand to, from changing a tire, to doing yard work, to working at their God-given career.
Pray that our husband would see God’s hand of provision for their families coming through their hard work.
Thank God for meeting your family’s needs. (Philippians 4:19)
R. Relationships
Your husband’s most important relationship (aside from his relationship with God, which we already prayed for) is our marriage relationship.
Let’s pray for our marriage to be strong and flourishing.
Pray for God to unite us in our vision for our individual family.
Pray for God to bless our union and help us to love and respect each other well. (Ephesians 5:33)
Pray for our husband to have great relationships with the children.
Pray for him to have God’s guidance in discipling the children in the things of God as he walks out daily life. (Deuteronomy 6:7)
Let’s pray for our husband to have great friendships with other strong men of faith.
Pray for him to find these men if it seems they don’t exist.
And believe that God will bring strong christian men to encourage your husband in his important roles God has called him to.
T. Thanksgiving
Thank God for the amazing gift that our husband is!
Thank God for the protection offered in the form of a strong husband who would do anything for you.
Thank God for everything our husband is to you, and watch expectantly as we rest in the hope of God.
